On 15 September 2022, the Potsdam PD team, under the scientific direction of the Medical Director PD Dr. T. Pfab, organised the all-day "Diaverum Peritoneal Dialysis Symposium" for the fourth time.
Due to the positive response, the tried and tested structure was retained: the topics of more interest to nursing staff took place in the morning, the lectures primarily aimed at doctors in the afternoon. Due to large overlaps, the hall was filled almost to capacity.
About 120 participants - from nurses to head physicians - came to the beautifully situated Potsdam Inselhotel on 15 September to learn about a wide range of topics related to PD.
Lectures by Diaverum internal and external nurses and doctors - including internationally renowned experts such as Prof. Haag-Weber - focused on the start of PD treatment. There were interesting reports on this from nursing, nephrological, surgical and pharmacological perspectives. The patient's point of view was also included. A patient reported in an interview on the podium about her experiences with PD and answered the questions of the auditorium.
The presentation of own analyses of the call services of the last seven years and reports on the update of the ISPD guidelines rounded off the programme.
During the breaks, there was ample opportunity for exchange and "best practice sharing" with PD specialists from Diaverum-internal and external renal centres.
The consistently positive feedback from the participants confirmed the concept of making our Diaverum expertise and enthusiasm for the home PD procedure visible at public events as well.
